Earlier this month, I put my New Year’s Resolutions on the Internets for all to see.
Today, I am publicly checking in, so you know how it’s going.
#1 Workout every day.
UPDATE: I work out at barre3 and the YMCA most days of the week. I have to be honest. It has not been every day. Waking up at 5:30 a.m. when it’s 25 degrees outside and diving into a pool is hard. I want to move to Key West to skip winter all together, but my husband says this is not an option.
#2 Give up alcohol, caffeine and Gluten for a month.
UPDATE: I gave up alcohol, except for a trivia game night, which was a fundraiser, and the whole point is to eat, drink and do a little trivia. Otherwise, I have not imbibed. I am actually thinking of giving it up for good. For one, I am a serious athlete. Two, I save so many calories, and I have a brain-to-mouth filter at parties! (Well, at least part of one. I will always speak my mind!)
I gave up coffee for the month, but I had some green tea and iced tea. (Heck, I have two kids.) I am still not sleeping great, but better. I may also keep this up, except for Panera’s hazelnut coffee. Yum.
I mostly gave up Gluten. But I have a thing for pizza. In fact, if I were stranded on an island and could only have one type of food, it would be pizza. I did discover an amazing Gluten-free pizza at 518 West, so it is possible. I will keep working on this one.
#3 Give up buying material items for 6 months.
UPDATE: I am going strong. I confess, I bought a wallet, but it was $5 at Interact’s thrift store, so it went to a good cause. Other than that, nothing new.
I even added to this resolution. I cancelled two credit cards and removed the one I have left from my wallet. Next New Year’s, I plan to get rid of this credit card, as well. Why? Because it’s much, much harder to part with cash. And I don’t need a credit card, because I have everything I need.
I’ll update you again in five months! In the meantime, keep on purging, friends!
