Let’s talk craft rooms. With Pinterest, blogs and other DIY sites, it seems as though everyone has turned into a Martha Stewart. This isn’t a bad thing! Sure, those mason jar snow globes weren’t your best work, but let’s not forget that fabulous pinecone wreath you made for fall. In one word: perfection. I think it’s great to be passionate about the way you spend your time. The only question is – do you have room for your creativity?
Take a look into craft rooms, and chances are you are going to look at a big space full of unorganized art items and/or unfinished projects. Sometimes we bite off more than we can chew and promise ourselves that we’ll “get to it.” But, we don’t – hence the mess.
This week, take a look at the space where you keep your crafts and ask yourself, “Am I going to get around to finishing this?” And more importantly, “Do I WANT to finish this?” If the answer is yes, then give yourself a deadline to finish the project.
If the answer is no – give it away! You know who will take all of your crafting leftovers? The Scrap Exchange in Durham. It’s a non-profit, so you will get a tax receipt for your donations.
To be in your most creative element, there must be room in your space for creativity. If there is too much “stuff” surrounding you, it is difficult to get inspired for fresh, new ideas and creations.
So get out there and create! Just make sure there is room for you AND your ideas.
