It’s wedding season, and couples are sending out their invitations and registry lists filled with pasta makers, vegetable twisters, orange juicers and martini shakers.
I wish I could fast forward couples a few years into the future when they are going crazy with that registry gun to show them working two jobs, caring for a toddler and newborn. And I want to show them hiring me to clean out their kithcen because they realize they don’t use half of the stuff they registered for because they are too busy changing diapers and chasing a two-year-old.
May I suggest giving an experience as a gift instead of MORE STUFF?
My friend Valonda Calloway, who used to host on WNCN here in Raleigh, owns 360 Elite Entertainment with her husband, a DJ company and wedding business, teaching couples to dance and helping them get through their wedding.
She also writes the blog “Behind I Do”, where she gives tips about the big day.
She recently wrote about my friend Pamela Clark, a cooking instructor known as the Thyme Savor, and me, suggesting you give an experience to the couple instead of MORE STUFF.
