Y’all, I just threw away a piece of paper with my name and address on it in a public trash can. I did not rip up or shred.
Am I worried? No. They already have your info. Heck, your life is on Facebook, and your resume is on LinkedIn! Saying you have to shred something before you let it go is your ego preventing you from changing your ways.
The ego hates change. But your soul wants less stuff and less paper. Go with your soul. After all, hackers are using the internet to get your information because there they can get MILLIONS of identities. They do not go to the landfill in hopes of getting one or two identities.
(Obviously, if you are in a profession where the law requires you to shred files, by all means follow the law. I am talking about the regular home office that’s drowning in paper because fear has paralyzed folks from cleaning it up.)
Just to show you how much I believe this, I put tax returns in the recycling. I ripped them up, but I don’t create that “shred” pile like most of you. Because your ego will find every excuse in the book to make sure you never get to it.
