I love handbags.
In fact, I only care about two accessories: handbags and jewelry. I know it seems like I love clothes, based on my Instagram project, where I find a magazine picture and recreate using my capsule wardrobe. Clothes, however, are distant third. I mean I pledged to not buy clothes for a year, and it’s been no problem!
I know when I tell people I love handbags, they assume I have a “problem.” I do have a lot of handbags, but that’s based on a minimalist measurement, not normal American standards. Just because you have a “thing” does not mean you have to have 500 of it. And even though I love handbags and jewelry, I am not out buying them every week. In fact, I never just “go shopping” anymore.
Here is my handbag collection, which includes the new bag and clutches:
That’s FOUR handbags on the left. I used to have a lot of bags that I did not really love until I went minimalist with my capsule wardrobe. I sold them all at Fifi’s. Here is my old collection.
Sheon the Stylist taught me to be mindful of how big my bag is because of my petite frame. A lot of bags will swallow me. I used to chase after the Louis Vuitton Artsy. A friend even loaned me one to see if I liked it.
It was the most gorgeous bag I’ve ever seen. I still dream about it. But in the end, it was too big for me.
Sheon says your handbag should be no bigger than your stomach. So now I am salivating over Anya Hindmarch satchels.
Until then, I will love my current handbag collection.
Plus, I REALLY love how they are stored. Since we moved, I keep my handbags on this shelf in the mudroom. That way, I can easily switch out bags as I leave the house, and I don’t have to run back upstairs to get the one I want.
And that means, I use them all.
