They’re everywhere: the kitchen, the bedroom, the bathroom, your desk (OK 3 in your desk). Junk drawers are taking over!
My rule is you get 1. Just 1.
I have one in the kitchen. It has pens, directories, paper and Gorilla Glue. When you have kids, you need Gorilla Glue. Those Gremlins break everything.
My junk drawer:
By allowing one junk drawer in the entire house where the “etc.” things go, I don’t stress myself out when I have an item that doesn’t fit anywhere, because I technically have a place for it.
The key to having just one junk drawer is 1. have less stuff, and 2. put like things with like things in other drawers. In the next drawer over are all my batteries and flashlights. Next to that are the lightbulbs and matches. By grouping things together, I know where they are, and there is not a random lightbulb in every drawer around the house, making every drawer a “junk drawer.”
But I know everyone has “odds and ends” that aren’t really related, so they can get lumped together in ONE drawer.
Challenge yourself this week to clean out a junk drawer or two (or 10!). And get yourself down to just one.
