I love this Ricky Martin song because it not only has a great dance beat, but also describes my life lately. I have fallen off the blogging wagon because of livin’ the crazy life. I am trying to have a fun, exciting and organized life, which is what I try to teach my clients. You’ve got to have fun! To do that without chaos and stress, you must be organized. Let me explain.
First, we got a dog. I gave my husband a choice: have a third child or get a dog. He chose dog. I told him a baby would not have to go on walks in the snow and ice. He said a dog does not require college tuition. So we got a dog.
We adopted her from Under Dog Ranch. She is 2 and potty trained (as my daughter tells everyone.) And she is perfect. She is patient with the kids, who want to love her a little too much. And she is doing great in doggy training classes. Of course, it has taken time to get her comfortable in her new home. So the blog became priority #11.
As if a new dog was not enough, I got four baby chicks — Sunny, Sunflower, Barbie and Cinderella. (Named by my kids.)
(Please excuse the photo through the net, but my chickens are jumping out of their tub. #crazychickens #IbelieveIcanfly.)
I have wanted chickens for a while and asked for a chicken coop for my birthday. I got my wish. I kind of went Cadillac level:
The building was already here — a playhouse for the previous owner’s children. I just added a run, an egg-laying spa and some predator-proofing. Now the babies are in the bathtub, getting bigger and waiting for it to warm up to move into their dream home. I’ve even applied to be on the Tour D’Coop.
But the dog, who originally ignored the chicks, is now obsessed with them. I could whisper that I am going to check on the chickens in the other part of the house from where she is, and she will come running to the bathroom door crying to see them.
I hope she loves them. But just in case, the bathroom door is kept closed!
Chickens + dog + two kids = blog priority #15.
Now I am back, breathing deeply — mostly because everything else remained in order. My home is organized. We don’t have much stuff for things to get out of control. It takes five to 10 minutes every night to tidy up. (And, yes, my children are responsible for cleaning up their things.)
Because our home is organized, we can add these
crazy fun activities — a dog and FOUR chickens — and it’s not entirely loco.
Ok, it’s a little loco. But everyone needs some
crazy fun in their lives now and then.
