When I used to go shopping, I would stop at a store to pick up extra hangers for my new clothes. (As a side note, I ONLY use white, plastic hangers. Judge away, but Mommy Dearest was right on track with the whole “NO WIRE HANGERS” rule.)
While it was responsible to properly organize the new items for my closet (go me!), all of those new clothes and hangers piled up. I never knew what I had.
Now, I go by the rule, one-in-one-out. I have a set amount of hangers in my closet, and I won’t buy more. If I buy a new shirt, then I give one away.
By doing this I: 1. Maintain my current organization. 2. Save money. Have you ever bought something and come home to find already had it? 3. Save time. Instead of taking a whole day in my weekend to clean out my closet, it’s already done!
