If I don’t throw out something or give away stuff at least once a week, I get antsy. With all of these snow days in North Carolina, I was beyond restless and wanted to sell everything we own.
Instead, I painted a large hallway closet that will eventually be our laundry room when we renovate. I decided I wanted to prep it for that purpose.
So I emptied it and painted it Decorator’s White by Benjamin Moore. It previously had wooden shelves all around, and you can see the shelf outlines on the wall. I removed them a year ago because they made the closet feel small, and again, we plan to make it our laundry room. And, let’s be real. I love demo and ripping $h*& out. (I have a tetanus shot to prove it. Let’s just say these 1951 contractors loved to use lots and lots of nails.)
Here is the left side of the closet pre-paint.
Here is the right side.
Now, the left side has my summer clothes, summer shoes and winter coats. The summer clothes will eventually fit into my bedroom closet when we renovate. (So many plans! Must win Powerball!)
On the right side, we installed two IKEA shelves that used to be in my son’s room. A few months ago, I had his room painted, and I Montessorized it, which means I seriously reduced the amount of stuff in it.
Now, the shelves store our bed linens and items I plan to use in the renovation. For example, there is a pot rack and several pieces of art that will go in the new kitchen. And if we don’t end up using them, I will sell them.
That’s what I did on my snow days. I still want to sell everything we own. Stay tuned for a major garage sale announcement!
