I have discovered the ONLY disadvantage to being organized — not finding money or gift cards in random places.
I have found tens of thousands of dollars in cash and checks and hundreds of gift cards while organizing with clients in all kinds of places. I even found a diamond necklace a client thought she had lost.
I don’t have this “problem.”
1. All my cash and checks immediately go into my bank bag. I go to the bank at least once a week to deposit. The tellers know my name.
2. I have a serious jewelry system, where the family jewels are stored.
3. And people know me well enough not to get me material gifts. (Don’t give me a regift, or I will hand it right back to you. Unless it’s jewelry from Reliable Loan or a Louis Vuitton bag. I mean can accept some things!) But I rarely have any gift cards. If I do, they go in my desk, and I pull them out when I am headed to that store.
So the only bummer about having less stuff and a place for everything, especially my money, is that Benjamins are never under the couch cushions.
I just have to find cash on the sidewalk and checks in the mail, which I open immediately, of course!
What will you find when you get organized?
